Inarizushi (sushi) is stuffed rice in a Tofu pocket and is sweet and salty sushi. It’s very popular with the kids.

Original Japanese: When two “Japanese” words are combined into a single word, the so-called phenomenon occurs in which the sound at the beginning of the underlying word changes from a clear sound to a muddy sound.
Inarizushi (sushi) came from a Shinto shrine in Kyoto.
The Inari Shrine (a main shrine in Kyoto) is a place of worship and praying for a good harvest along with a prosperous business. The tributes (donations) were paid in bales of rice (shown below). This lead to the bale shaped Inarizushi(sushi) made of rice wrapped in a tofu pocket (Age).
Generally, it is finished in a bale shape (A rectangular parallelepiped close to a cylinder) that mimics a rice bale.
How to make Inarizushi?
This is the Tofu pockets we call “Age” or “Sushiage” in Japanese.
Cut slice Tofu and deep fried in the package.
Step1. Cut a half

Step2. Rinse out the oil with hot water
Because of Age (Tofu pocket) has been deep fried.
Step3. Ingredients of Inarizushi sauce
4 tbsp Sugar, 3 tbsp Soy sauce and 1 cup water.

Step4. Put lid on the Tofu pockets and cook.
Put the pot on medium heat and put it on a low heat with a drop lid when boiling. (A drop lid is required to spread a little broth throughout!) Cooking time is 10 to 12 minutes after dropping the lid.
Cover it with a small plate (or tinfoil) and make sure it’s sitting on top of the tofu pockets so that it retains the heat and helps with the cooking process.

Now wrap it up.

- 1 1/2 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Brown rice syrup or any sweetness
- 1/2 tep Salt
